Molecular interactions during an electrical discharge

My next painting in my Chemistry series is a beautiful painting with bright red molecules against a soft blue and beige background with squirts of white and phthalo blue to represent the electrical discharges.

Molecular interactions during an electrical discharge - Acrylic painting on canvas - 30x30in
Below is what the background looked like. Soft clouds of blue and buff scraped with the paint knife, and vibrant squirts of pure color. I used Golden Fluid Acrylics mixed with pouring medium.

Afterwards I added more clouds, to increase the contrast and structure, and then painted the molecules. I finished by adding a few more horizontal squirts of paint to better balance the focal points.
