Castle Ruins

The ruins of a castle against a white-blue background. The castle is painted with ultramarine, and the vegetation with permanent green light and ultramarine. Then a few dots of crimson and cadmium yellow for the flowers.

I experimented with a knock-down texture by using a fluid mix of gloss medium and titanium white and then tapping with the sponge to create peaks. Then I applied cerulean and ultramarine with the sponge making peaks again. Then I used a flat paint knife to softly level the tops, leaving the texture to dry. When I started painting the castle and the vegetation, the additional texture I had created allowed for a lot of control with the paint knife.
