Dinner in the mobile age

These little devices that beg for our attention with their beeps, their hums, and their glitzy colors. It doesnt matter where we go, everyone is on them.
´
So here is a painting of a couple at dinner, alone with their devices. It´s a modern take on Van Gogh´s Potato Eaters. But in this mobile age, the light that brings everyone together around the dinner table is replaced by individual lights from the LED screens. The children are with the babysitter.
The dark colors are replaced with flashy bright colors. And the one potato has been replaced by individual servings of french fries
.
For those who like details, there are kanji characters hidden in the background, morse code, and computer circuits. The couple´s brains are also circuit boards as they are just an extension of the device, obeying its endless alarms and notifications instead of enjoying their partner´s company.

Dinner in the mobile age (Modern Potato Eaters) - Acrylic on canvas board (36x24in)
I used phthalo blue for the background, cadmium red for the table, quinacridone magenta and dioxazine purple for the woman, phthalo and cerulean for the man.
