Dancer - Acrylic painting

A painting of a dancer in the final act of a ballet. I did not sketch or carefully plan this one in advance. I just pictured the blue figures coming out of the ochre background and that was how it all began.
I am very critical of myself but while painting this one I truly enjoyed the cycle of 1) visualizing, 2) deciding the technique to use to achieve the desired effect, 3) watching for accidents, 4) rerouting if it seemed the new road had potential, and visualizing again

Final Act - Acrylic painting on canvas (30x30in)

I kept the mind going through that cycle and used a lot of techniques and materials: Sponges, paper towels, knifes, fingers, brushes, squirt bottles, spray bottle, rubbing paint on , rubbing off paint layers, feathering, and detail painting.
I felt like I was listening to the canvas during the whole process. And even though I still have a lot to learn, I am at least feeling comfortable and confident with the techniques I have learned so far.
