| Fire and Ice - Acrylic painting on wood panel (20x20in) |
The hardest part was to rip and pull apart the acrylic layers. Acrylic is like glue, so the process was time consuming and led to some bleeding fingers. The wood panel stood strong during the whole process. If I had to do it again I might try creating the blue paint layers first over glass and then glueing them on the canvas using acrylic medium. Or use pieces of ripped canvas which would give additional texture specially if the canvas is thick.
The yellows for the fire are mainly azo and diarylide yellow which is almost orange, and the red is naphtol with black for the darker areas.
The blues I used were anthraquinone for the darker areas, and phthalo blue lightened with titanium and zinc whites for the lighter areas.
