Playing with Opera Rose (Watercolor paintings)

Opera Rose is a very bright pink made with quinacridone magenta PR122 and a fluorescent dye called rhodamine B (aka BV10). It is this fluorescent dye which gives it that extra brightness. Alas, BV10 is a fugitive color that fades faster than the others and is not recommended for "professional" work. In addition, chlorinated water decomposes the dye. So the fluorescence will lose its punch over time.
However, just as we can enjoy a beautiful blooming flower garden in spring or a bouquet of flowers, we should also feel free to enjoy painting with Opera Rose.
