Lost Contact- Painting on computer boards
Here is the finished painting depicting a broken phone system where the callers have lost the phone signal. It's a fairly large piece at 4 ft wide and has beautiful dark reds against warm yellows with bright aqua accents.
I started with a canvas board, added the computer boards to it and then covered it all with layer of glossy enamel. Then I painted several layers with the words, waveforms and electronic circuits. I varnished between layers to give each layer its own depth. The result is a very glossy and high-contrast piece. I also used a very bright cobalt teal against the warm yellows and reds. The red is a gorgeous quinacridone red by Sennelier called Primary Red, and the darker version was just a mixture with Phthalo Blue.
