This is the next piece in my series of mixed media art using computer parts. The theme this time is
algorithmic trading. I got inspired to do this piece after reading
"Automate This: How algorithms came to rule our world" by Christopher Steiner. The first part of the book explains how algorithms are used in the stock market and how trillions of dollars every year are traded by machines programmed by humans.

The piece shows the computer analyzing the trends in several stocks and deciding to sell a particular one. There's actual algorithmic trading code in the painting which adds to the detail.

I started with a similar background as in my Email Server piece, white with vertical bands of metallic blue and silver representing the ranges in the stock value over time.

Then I painted the stock symbols (very time consuming), and the graph lines using squirt bottles with bright colored paint. The computer components I used this time in my art were a couple of PC boards and ten memory chips.
