Lighthouse

A lighthouse at sunset with a partially clouded sky and rough seas.
Lighthouse at sunset - Acrylic painting on canvas 30"x30"

Another painting where I used a lot of water and fluid acrylics. I used anthraquinone blue this time. The sky and ocean came first on a gradient with a lighter horizontal middle. Then I added sunset colors tilting and blending them. Then the clouds with a brush, but also blending with water in certain areas, and readding the sunset colors as needed. I added the land almost at the end, but I also blended some of it using water spray. And once everything was dry, I added the lighthouse so the lines would be nice and crisp. Then the light effect with a horizontal brush stroke using mostly titanium white with a bit of bright yellow. And the white circle of light spilling a bit over some of the structure to create the illusion of a bright light halo. This was a fun painting, and I enjoyed working again on a bigger canvas (30"x30").
